Plot Summary Eli Yanakakis is the son of a billionaire meglomanic by the name of Rex Yanakakis, a man who is enthralled with the occurence of a nuclear war. When a nuclear bomb threat falls upon the United States, Rex the head of the family brings his family into a large, technological adanced fallout shelter. Rex unknowing leaves behind his son Eddy, Eli's twin and Eli's grandmother. Eli thus enters the vault with his parents, his younger sister Therese, and his older sister Lexie.
Six years hence, Eli beings to wonder if his brother may of survived the nuclear attack. The once happy life in the compound is getting progressivly more difficult. Eli's mother Clea, is pregnant with her fourth child in six years. The three youngest children (known to Eli as the supplements) are apart of a henious sceme by Rex to use them to sustain the older four members of the family. Although the family starts to form close relationships with the supplements Eli is hesitant, because he does not want to ponder the emotional toll that the death of thsese children will have on him. Some time later, Rex shows Eli a special laboratory where he plans to clone human beings. Soon thereafter Eli gives into his mothers requests to meet the supplements. The children's names are Lucas, Quinn and Cara. Eli soon developes a love for the children and tries to persuade Lexie to stand up to their father and his nefarious plan. Eli soon discovers that the internet works in his fathers study and communicated with his twin brother who is residing safely outside the compound. Eddy informs him that there was no nuclear fallout and his father made it look like those members of the family had perished in a fire. Eddy then makes a promise to Eli to find him and take revenge upon their father. |
Eli soon challenges Rex about his deception and Rex admits that he staged the entire fisaco. He said it was apart of his plan to see how they would handle challenges and advesity, even if it ment resorting to canabalism. Eli distraught with this revelation, punches his father. Just before Rex looses consciousness however he gives a clue on how to unlock the door. His mothers condition, arising from complicaitons in her pregnancy, begins to bleed heavily and needs medical attention. He finds a blank piece of parchment in Therese's oboe case, and when he exposes the paper to ammonia he discovers a series of ominous numbers. Before he can decipher the numbers however, Rex wakes up and threatens to kill Lucas if Eli does not stop trying to escape. Eli and his sisters sneakily decode the numbers and only Eli escapes, leaving the others trapped in The Compound. Eli comes in contact with his family accountant Phil, who he hopes will help him and his family escape but his only purpose there is to relocate the family to a new bunker in the South Pacific. Rex then departs from the Compound and gives Phil a black device which will make the bunker implode. Eli then tackles Phil for the device and accidentally sets it off. He only has 10 minutes to save his family while his father, runs back into the compound to retrieve important research. Eli succeeds in removing his family from the bunker and leads them to a helicopter in which his twin brother Eddy resides. Eli is unsure if his father escapes with Phil in the helicopter. In the months following their rescue Eli's mother gives birth to another healthy child. Clea takes control of Rex's software business and takes all of her children on an extended vacation. Rex is pursued by the FBI for the torture of his family, he however, is nowhere to be found. |
